On 5 April 2016 the JRC presented the interactive and collaborative online European Energy Efficiency Platform. This beta platform is conceived to fill the gap opened by scattered data and fragmented knowledge resulting from a rapidly growing energy efficiency market. It is expected to be both a one-stop shop for information retrieval and a meeting point for experts to exchange data and reduce redundant activities.
Ms Aikaterini Boulamanti is a chemical engineer since 2005. Her PhD was entitled "Desinging of monitoring and destruction systems for hydrocarbons resulting in the atmosphere from refining industries" and was done in collaboration with the Hellenic Petroleum S.A. In 2010 she joined the Joint Research Centre. Since 2014 she has been working on the assessment of energy intensive industries, focusing on the potential of improvement in energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions savings, but also on cost analysis. She is an expert especially in the chemical and petrochemical industry, but also in the non-ferrous metals industry. In addition, she has had experience with environmental impact assessment and scientific policy support concerning solid and gaseous biofuels and has worked with life cycle analysis.
